Question barbel society
what stretches of local rivers do the barbel society control?
what are the main pros of joining them?

Welcome to the Barbel Society Website. The national organisation for all barbel anglers.

one of the main reasons why i joined is because i have an interest in and wish to learn about conservation but apart from that theres the new barbel school that there doing, the research and conservation work they do, the friendships you,ll make, socials you will go on, the barbel fisher mag you get twice a yr, which is the best barbel mag i,ve ever read, it was that good i bought the past 12yrs.
you,ve just missed out on a good offer, of half price membership.
cheers
jerry

I think it's fair to say that Jerry has covered most of it.

The reason I joined about 8 years ago was to fish the water at Sutton on Trent. I soon found there was more to it than just the waters.
The guys I met then and since have turned out to be good friends and great fishing companions.
So you can get what you want out of of the Barbel Society, but it really depends on what you want to put in.

We have an annual show, there are always people who will give advice freely, and of course we have the best Research & Conservation fund out there, willing and able, to assist clubs with advice on their own stretch of river.

Finally most of us are not just barbel anglers,we do fish for other species, so no narrow minded approach to our sport/hobby.

Hi Wev

You can join the Barbel Society with effect from the 16th June once joined ,or at the same time, you can take an annual ticket for Sutton. Access is via a padlocked gate and it there hasn't been too much rain you can park behind your swim.
New seasons prices will be on the website and here if I'm allowed to do that when price fixed.

Anymore info just ask

fred

Wev

It costs £25 to join the Society.

To fish Sutton is £40 a season.
