Hooked in the scissors? I find almost all pike I hook on a single are scissor hooked.
And that really makes getting the hook out easy. I find I can often unhook jacks in the water, without even needing the net.

if your a novice with handling pike then i would invest in a pair of predator gloves which are very thin but will help to protect your little pinkies they are also thin enough so you can keep them on when fishing, got mine from local tackle shop cost about £12 i think
good luck
zac

Hi zac Must agree with you there mate after a nasty encounter with a pike a few years back i ended up in A&E (never ever tell them you got bitten by a fish lol every nurse and doctor in the hosp wanted to see the guy that had been bitten by a fish)
A few weeks later i was on holiday in the us and picked up a pair of the gloves you mention

I bought a butcher's chain mail glove. Confidently used it with the next pike, but the long pointed teeth still managed to get through the links and draw blood!
These days I just know what I am doing, and take care, not bothering with gloves. Working so far, ( crossing my remaining fingers). ;-)

Default Hook removal
I've used this method with single fly hooks as well, with great success
