Dunno Glenn, not seen ANY pike in there myself, although I have been trying for them in the local rivers. No success as yet.

Tame Pike
Hi Lads There are pike in the tame but i don't think there are many my Pb for the river is 13 lb taken about 8 years back,Ive had a pike rod out twice while chubbing this winter but no runs as yet.
But with a serious attempt i think you should do OK

13lbs is great, time to buy 12" forceps and a chain link body suit

hi,
its close to your best chance of getting a pike from now till feb/early march as they will start shoaling up for spawning, find the spawning grounds = find the pike! my pb is 16lb not from a river though, i have had a couple of goes on the tame but like billyrivers no runs as yet. tank has had them swim past him when wading.i aim to do an all out pike session very soon on the tame.

I bought a chain link butcher's glove, having been very severely lacerated by a Trent pike this year. Silly me. Next pike I caught still managed to cut me THROUGH THE GLOVE! It did reduce the depth of cut though. The long pointy teeth still can get through even quite small chain links.
Seen one pike in the Tame. Not seen one in the Goyt yet.

Maybe a set of welders gloves will do the trick but then again you'll wont be able to hold the forceps
I think I'll stick to barbel

pike
I to bought a pair of filleting gloves after i was severely lacerated by a pike i had to go to Macc hospital to have it stitched .
It was the worst thing i did when i told them id been bitten by a fish, every nurse and doctor in the hospital wanted to see it.
I could see the funny side the next day
Must admit never had any cuts after i got the gloves
