The year was 2006 myself and fishing buddy Mark (who introduced me to Barbel) were out method fishing at Severn Stoke, when out of the blue came a massive bang. Is it a Barbel I asked the response was I don’t know but it’s pulling like a ****** anyway cut a long story short when I tried to net said fish it wasn’t a Barbel it was a estimated ish 30lb Catfish and not only that it wasn’t hooked it had the method feeder in its mouth and when it saw me with a landing net it let go!!

Apparently they are in the tidal stretches, Jay, but i haven't come accross any in the middle sections, yet!

Any indications as to whether they are breeding in the river Will, or are all captures and sightings just of odd fish that someone has thrown in there?
