Oh great, ive met a few fellas on the bank and had a good chat, and a laugh at my incompetence, i say i havent caught anything, managed a small chub right before i fell over and kicked my groundbait in the river lol
What are peoples thoughts as to the safety of fishing behind fishwick hall golf club?
Dont know if this is the right place to ask?

hi dan, welcome to bhf, its as safe as anywhere really, no problem in the daytime and of course you can't night fish it as its a controlled stretch and theres a no night fishing rule in force,if your on a bmac ticket you'll already know that though.
cheers

I have the ticket that enables you to fish that stretch only, i bought it from ted carters, i did a few sessions at church deeps, bit daunting there as it looks bottomless, wasnt sure how to approach it tbh.
Im goin on tomorrow morning, about a mile downstream from brockholes bridge i think, ill post back!

Been today, wow it was wild, and quite difficult with the flow, but managed a pb Chub of 5lb 7oz, I was over the moon! Was a fluke tbh, i couldnt tell what was a bite and what wasnt due to flow, anything i can do to combat this problem!? Caught it on a big lump of meat.

Telling bites when there is a bit of water pushing through can be difficult, but there are ways to help.
There have been some good posts on this forum to help; try using the search facility, start with bites; if you can't find what you are looking for, I would suggest you put up a new post in the Serious Barbel Chat section, I'm sure plenty will give you pointers.
Oh, welcome and congrats on the Chub!
