Hi All,
Just found this forum and decided to join.

I last barbel fished around 1999 and after a few years sucessfull carp fishing decided I fancied giving barbel another go this year.

Unfortunately I live in Essex which is not renound for its river fishing so I'll have to travel.

I have a trip to the Wensum booked but that will be mainly to chub areas that have been heavily predated by otters and I'm going down to the Avon in September!

Any suggestions where my nearest decent river is I can catch decent barbele and chub from that hasn't been hit by otters?

I have fished the Kennet, I was a member of Thatcham for a few years, however it's about a two and half hour drive for me.

I was looking for something a bit closer that isn't going to cost me £60 in petrol every time I go?
