hi grovsey, welcome to bhf, saint9999 is your man for yorkshire rivers matey, on the gear front you've probably got everything you need, feeder rod, baitrunner reel, rig wise the simpler the better i think for the most,barbel/river anglers use 3 methods, feeder, ledger or trotting a float through, nothing fancy in the end tackle dept hair rig or straight through,no fixed leads/feeders,baits matched to hook size, hooklength dependant on river conditions low n clear = long hooklengths, normal and deep shorter.hope this helps.

cheers

kev.
ps if you require any blanking advice ask billyfish or any of his blankety blank cheque book and pen club !!! hehe eh billy
