Kev, sorry about not responding sooner about the pike fishing. The water where I had the good catch is a club water, and I very much doubt that you would be a member. No tickets either. Any joint trip would be elsewhere.
I quite fancy a go somewhere for zander. Never seen one yet, and I feel I have to have a go sometime soon, so if you fancy that sometime? I realise it will involve travel, and probably fresh baits from god knows where. I never was any good at catching smal fish.

Kev, just realised what PAC means. You don't happen to have an email address for John Watson, Norfolk area, well known pike angler. I used to fish with him many years ago, and would like to make contact again.

There are a few platforms a little way upstream of Parr's Wood. Steps leading down to them. A fair walk though if your knee is suspect. Odd swims higher up. Most of the bank from Bleachworks weir in Heaton Mersey and upstream is inaccessible even to the young and fit. The odd swim, but it is difficult, and few spots you can get very near with a car. The weirpools, some of which I fancy, are so snaggy that to get a decent barbel out if hooked, would be quite a problem. I have also personally found that the fish in the Mersey are much smaller than the Tame. A 2 pound chub would be a good one in my experience. Plenty of very small ones in the right swims.
