Indeed it is a bit like carp fishing now. You might see me on the tame with 3 rods and a bait boat lol . I personally think not naming specific pegs for all to see is a good idea but Ihope this doesn't put people off posting fishing reports. Iwas chuffed to find a river so close to manchester (the tame)with such a variety of fish. Grayling less that 10 miles from my house awesome, Iwouldnt have know that but for your website. I much prefer to fish well above the wier as there seems to be very little angling activity and for my own selfish reasons Iwould hate that to change.

I dont want to put people off reporting fish catches, I hope this will encourage the people that don't make catch reports posts to do so.
Its only to edit any post that pin point pegs and swims.
So you can still say what you've caught from the tame in Stockport.

Well what can i say. You have taken all my thoughts on this matter straight out of my mind.
I think this is a great idea and will hopefully given time stop all those anglers wanting a free ride from bothering us guys who are actually willing to put in all the effort and hard work we do into enjoyable fishing on rivers throughout the country.
I have and always have been an angler who likes to fish locations off the beaten track as i get much more enjoyment out of the rewards of catching good fish which have more than likely never been caught before. I like the challenge that this sort of fishing presents and don't see why when the rewards do come that some 'noddy fishermen' should have free access to the information on all the hard work i have put in and take over the river for the next 6-12 months!! I have had this happen to me before! Following these intense preriods of pressure this type of angler put the fish under, many fish that are caught will be thrown into a keepnet and photographed at the end of a session so they can get their names, mug shots and detailed description of the location etc.... in an angling Magazine or paper!
All in all i think this is a great move and a very positive move in the right direction for the website. Give time we will all be benifiting from this being done and also reeping even more rewards!!
Mally.

Sorry you feel that way, but if you read the threads hardly anybody names pegs anyway as they do in BFW, I thought it would be best to inform you that post reports on captures from specific pegs will get edited.
If you posted that you had a nice barbel from the tame in Stockport, that would be fine.

Fair point, which I sort of understand. I don't understand why, if people so choose, you can't give specifics of fishing locations. If I find a real hotspot that is untapped, I wouldn't necessarily give people a free pass and tell them, but I may give hints. But if I fish say Arley or hampton loade and catch a few, I'd like to tell people who may be planning on fishing it the next day what peg I was on and more info.
Thanks

It's a storm in a tea cup, it's always like this when the weather is fair, when it starts to turn a bit grimmer there are noticeably less people on the bank. By all accounts these are the "best" times???
Not pointing fingers but there are a couple of new shots in the galleries on the Tame that almost give you the grid reference. They seem to have escaped anyones attention.
There's an element of cloak and dagger with most forms of fishing, why Barbel fishing should be any different is beyond me.
A friend of mine keeps informing that Barbel are "NOT" intelligent fish. Seems that they have the upper hand where I'm concerned.
If I catch any, I will report them... If people don't like it, tough. I'll not give exact swim locations, but lets be honest if a pm comes my way, I'll give up more than I will on the open forum.
It's up to the individual, some are lurkers and want a free ride, some work more and get there rewards. There's alot of grey areas between, it's just a question of where you pigeon hole yourself.
I doubt that if you go on a new venue that you'd fish it totally blind. Everyone would do some research, if you don't post anything on where you fish, it's not helping out in any way.

The more people post, the better the forum is. Simples.
