Exclamation New Website Guidelines
We are introducing new site rules that will hopfully make the site a better place for all.

None posters:
Members that use the site and never make a post may have there account deleted.
If you look at the members list you'll see a lot of none posters, some of them hardly visit the site and these account will stay but thoes that frequent and never make a post may get deleted.
We hope this will sort out the wheat from the chaff.

Peg naming:
We will be editing out the naming of pegs but it would help if you don't describe and pin point pegs in the forums, if you get a private pm from a member its up to you if you want to share the info.

e.g. I caught 3 doubles on the weir last night.
This will be edited to:
I caught 3 doubles near the weir last night.

e.g. I had 4 barbel from the bush peg next to the big bridge in Hyde.
This will be edited to:
I had 4 barbel from near the bridge in Hyde.

Photo submissions:
Photos are the best part of fishing but we have had reports that some people have copied images from the website and others and they are using them in mobile phones and cameras to pin point pegs on the barbel rivers.

I will be the first to admint that I've fished pegs that Ive seen in other peoples photos.

To combat this they are new rules for photo submissions.
We will not accept photos that show distinctive features on the river that could be used to pin point pegs.

If you know how, you can blur the background of the image you want to add.

Take the photo with your back to the bank not the river.
See examples:

We hope that people who dont normally submit photos will do with these new guidelines inplace.

Please add your thoughts to these new rules

I might be rather more vague than "near the weir", and "near the bridge in Hyde"

I would personally go as far as "from the river".

The photo guidelines are quite good. Might still be possible with those examples to locate the spots, but you would certainly have to work at it.

Yeah deffo a step in the right direction Mr Admin. Nice one!
But like JayZS has said i dont see the point in being any more specific than 'from the river' , too many people looking for a free lunch, so to speak.

Agree with JayZ about swims. Changing from "on" to "near" is neither here nor there.

oh, and by the way, i know exactly which swims both those bottom 2 pictures are. I even called Jerry's to a couple of lads before it appeared in AM, and trust me when i say i had no information. Just instantly recognisable when you fish an area for a while.

That maybe be true for people who have put the effort in but its to stop the free loaders that mostly consists of poachers that have no knowledge of the river and are just looking for easy pickings.

I know goyt fairly well, jerrys photo could be 1 of 5 locations and I took the middle one

PM me the location of the one I took and I'll tell you if your correct.

If you caught any fish from a 'near a weir' on the Wear you could find yourself wearing handcuffs
All to protect the sacred river cows...salmon and sea trout.

Hi,

Can you tell me how to delete my profile please? Or perhaps do it for me. I'm not into all the secretive stuff, so would rather no longer be involved. I hope things continue to go well for you all. Tight lines!

Its not being secretive, its just about showing a little discretion towards other anglers.

If you uploaded an image of a 20lbs barbel and told the world what peg you caught it from you know that you could never get on that peg for the next 6 months.
