Default Ashton Canal in Droylsden
Hi all,

I often take my dog for a walk along the Ashton canal in Droylsden with my friend and on numerous evenings i have seen some good fish basking or topping incl. carp, pike and an enormous dead perch. It was bloated up but i think it went 3lbs easy which is a big fish for an urban canal. I have also seen the odd match on this stretch as well.

Just wondered if anyone knows which club owns the rights to the stretch and if it is worth fishing?

Not sure who owns the fishing mate, but my advice would be to just go ahead and fish it. I know its not really the done thing but ive fished the canals around Tameside many many hundreds of times and ive yet to pay for a day ticket or see a bailiff.
Used to be some lovely roach down Droylsden way

Behind robertsons jam factory was always a good place to fish near the outlets.

Droylsden marina was fishing well when freinds fished it recently. Day ticket though.

I have seen lots of silver fish on this canal being caught around portland basin area ,i think this stretch is a freemans
