Default Greys Prodigy Rod
Having never used these rods before, although the general opinion is that they are good, can anyone tell me what the difference is between the 'TX' and 'VX' range - and I don't mean the letter 'U'

There is an obvious difference in price, and I know you get what you pay for, but is it worth paying that difference as the rod will mainly be used as a second rod?

Cheers, Nick

Have a look here, should give you all you need to know:

Greys Coarse - Products - Rods - Prodigy VX Rods - Barbel

Greys Coarse - Products - Rods - Prodigy TX Rods - Prodigy TX Specimen

Looks like the TX doesn't have the very important word "Barbel" attached to it, just specimen... worth paying the extra £50 for?

Exactly my point. It's the 1.5 TC rod I want so the TX will more than suffice I'm sure - unless I'm told otherwise

I think the diffrence is in the action of the rod the barble rod will have a more through action to it to cushion those under the rod tip lunges you get of the barble, check out a 2lb tc carp rod to a barbel rod of the same tc
cheers gilster

That would be fine except they do have a Prodigy TX Barbel in the range.

Gilster/Sam, thanks again. It's the 1.5 TC I was after so it would be the TX 'Specialist' or the VX 'Twin Tip' with 1.5 & 2.0 tips. Still not sure if it's worth paying more for the VX

Cheers, Nick

The only way to decide that is to go and have a waggle. Chances are that the extra will be paying for a higher grade of carbon and/or a higher grade of ring linings. Whether you can even tell or if you care is down to you.

Nothing like a good waggle eh! I agree that the carbon etc is possibly a better grade, possibly better rings etc, and it's usually a case of you get what you pay for, but the only way to find out is to have a look, have a waggle, buy one and use it. Decisions, decisions

Cheers, Nick
