Default Umbrella weight
Just about heaviest thing I carry when river fishing. Looking at various makes but perhaps so we can't compare, none have weight in description. Only need 45" or 50". Any advice welcome.

My advice - dont bother! They do weigh far too much dont they. I've never owned one light enough not to hamper the roving of rivers

Korum 50" fibreglass. 3kg. I find ideal for all day roving sessions.

I don't bother with an umbrella on the rivers, I don't even own one. I normally just sit it out with a good waterproof. However I am going to spend some money on two Stalker Poncho's one for me and the other for my kit, about £13 of the net. Or maybe spend a little more and get a British Army one these will be much better quality.

I agree with the 'don't bother with a brolly' view, to be honest always carried one and it took up loads of space in my 2 rod quiver so instead I bought a fully water proof jacket with an optional fleece.

If I do know it's going to be raining heavily all day I'll chuck a golf type brolly in green of course in the rod bag but usually I can shelter in heavy down pours or just ride it out.

I've often caught soon after a heavy down pour and think it sometimes livens a swim up especially if there is lots of trees around the rain must wash lots of goodies in for the fish to investigate

Only 8 days rain a week Dan? What area of Manchester do you live in if you get weather that good?

I seem to travel too heavy most of the time, and that's without a brolly Definitely not on the top of my list Decent waterproofs only for me.

Cheers, Nick
