Default rod accident
i have snapped the top eye off the top of my rod today. it has broke just under the top eye whipping. anyone know who can fix it in the manchester stockport area or is it ready for the tip. will this affect the rod

hi dankay123,,, if none of the lads on here cant help you, edgeley sports used to repair rods, tel/no 480 2511, ask for barry. billy.

Depends on the rod, if its a sliced tip or built in quiver, they quite easy to repair, if its a straight through rod just whip the eye on the broken section and see what it feels like, I would say if its a barbel rod or similar it wont make too much difference, but it would on a float rod.

it is a shakespeare barbel rod not the quivertip the other section.

should be fine then if its only broke beneath the tip eye.

Same happened to me with a quiver tip when my lad reeled it in too much with the hook in the keeper and it snapped. All I did was apply some heat to the top ring and removed it with a pair of pliers, sanded down the good bit of the quiver, pushed the top ring back on and applied the heat again and it was fixed.

Have landed many a fish on it since and haven't noticed a drop in performance when playing a fish, also it taught my lad a lesson about how to treat the rod and I've just about forgiven him

got it fixed at edgeley sports. the blonde girl fixed it for only £3
