Default Advice on 2 piece float rod.
I am looking at buying a 2 piece float rod mainly for trotting on the Tame. I like to move around and want to have a feeder and stick float set up ready to go and easy to move around. (I am getting the Korum 2 rod protection as well). I'm not Rockefeller by any means and don't want to pay over £50. Can anyone offer any advice as I don't know where to start. It would have to handle at least 6lb line preferably. Thanks in advance.

You will struggle to find one below £70 as they are quite specialist rods and have not been on sale long, so no secondhand ones from what I can tell , only about 4 or 5 types DRENNAN SERIES 7 PUDDLE CHUCKER CARP WAGGLER ,Korum 3G 2 Piece Float Rods,MAP CFS 2 piece 12ft medium power waggler rod , Garbolino Mayhem Pellet Rods , in your price range, wont be ideal for the job and you may find them heavy, hope that helps you. blank lol

I'm glad you mentioned the puddle chucker. I was looking at them. If needed I'll go up to £70. The thing that concerns me when trotting is the weight. I'll check the others out online. Cheers for the info.

If your using 6lb line, Will you be using heavy floats as well, If you are in my opinion you should go for an avon type rod, then you have a spare quiver rod if you need it and they are much cheaper to pick up. If you want to trot small baits on a stick you cant beat a purpose built 3 piece stickfloat rod , would be able to pick one up for £50 a very decent one as well.tri cast aristorat rod on eBay (end time 02-Sep-10 14:07:55 BST) only one on ebay at moment and a very good rod , you may get it for £50 if you lucky.

You can still have a 3 peice rod set up and ready to fish if you put your hook and float ready conected and put it on a pole winder and invest in some tip protectors like these USED CARP TACKLE TACKLE TIP PROTECTORS X3 on eBay (end time 04-Sep-10 15:53:07 BST) and put the pole winder inside..
