The extra compactness of 3 piece rods can be a boon but a lot of anglers these days (me included) like two piece rods simply because it's so convienient just to unfold rods that are ready made-up; then all that is usually required is to check your hook and bait up, and you are ready to drop your bait into your chosen swim immediately; then at the end of a session just fold your rods in half and put them into rod sleeves fixed on the outside of a rod quiver.
Doing this is much easier, quicker and a little less prone to getting tangles when you have two piece rods; and theres nothing worse than having to spend time hurriedly setting up when you see fish in your swim without spooking them at all, and having to break down your rods on a damp late evening in the pitch dark.
I have Greys Prodigy rods which cover most my needs from low water through to flood water conditions (1.7lb Prodigy Barbel Plus Prodigy specimen multi tip with 1.5lb/2lb test curve tip sections) and for me they are perfect for what I need.
