there was too much weed and debri running down the river, every time i put the baitrunner on, the weed would take it half a mile down river.

I see your point mate, is there no option to tighten the baitrunner on your reel mate?

how do you tighten the baitrunner on a reel ricky. its a shimano 5000 baitrunner reel.

On a standard Shimano baitrunner, it's the wheel just in front of the drag knob at the rear of the reel.

It will possibly have 2 red arrow signs pointing towards each other, you can't miss it, once you know what it is for. If you click the link below, from the end of the reel you have the drag wheel, then you can see just to the left of the silver band on the drag wheel a bit that looks separate to the main body, this is the baitrunner adjustment. On newer bodels it looks more integrated.
