Default Maggot advice...?
I want to try maggot feeder, any advice gratefully received, especially how often I should recast and how much maggot I would need for around 4 hours fishing? Thanks.

dont put too much in when its winter they dont feed as hard, also try adding curry powder to your bait box with the maggots in,or if using hemp n maggot add some chilly flakes. good luck

what about hair rigging them had a couple out this season doing it
tie a knotless not with a small metal ring on hair get yourself a fine sewing needle 2lb line thread needle put on as many maggots as you require and tie off with a knot of your chose put some plastic maggots on if you want
must admit if i forget my glasses cannot do it. have super glued them on hair but end up with fingers stuck together

Has any one tried dead maggots I was thinking of using dead maggot which you can add the hemp to without it running off on you.

I also think it might be worth adding some Krill to the maggot when I froze them to add a bit of a boost to the flavour.

what do you lot think?

Martin.

Thanks Pie Eater, very interesting suggestion, if I can scrounge a needle from the Mrs I will give it a go. What size hook would you recommend as a starting point?

Martin, do you think dead maggots will work in a feeder?

yes

you can open up the holes on a blockend feder or adapt it and fish with the bottom end open and block that with stiff groundbait.

using dead maggots i would not bother hair rigging just straight on the hook.

not tried it yet though as with fuel prices it is a £50 job for the round trip.
