Report from east midlands news that the bow was to close to the wier and the boat flipped on contact with flow and both anglers' were trapped in the wash along with the boat . Realy sad that wier has claimed lots of lives in the past
I have seen boats fishing right up to the wier IT MUST be stopped for the safety of themselves

I totally agree its so dangerous, I know the draw of catching a lot of fish in an area where no one can cast and hold is so tempting, but life is to precious to give away. The guys were doing something they both loved. Everyone be careful out there

I have fished for Pike from a boat on the Trent before....It is an odd river. I have fished below Colwick sluice gates & the river can rise & fall dramatically.

I remember some Royal Marines were killed in a canoe in the 1980's, their boat went over the top of Cromwell in the dark late at night. I think it was due to one of the navigation lights not being lit or something?

This is very tragic
