Either dig out the fluff chucking gear, ( now that the Goyt has gone fly only) if only to show just how incompetant I am at fly fishing, or maybe have a play on the odd stillwater.
or... sleep until June.

I'll give you a lift to the banks with your kit if you go all cold turky and start getting the shakes

closed season
I usually have a few weeks without wetting a line then do a bit of lake fishing for a few tinca's, but hope to get my fly gear out this year and do a bit on the Tame and get an out of season fed card and have a go on the Goyt as theres some great looking fly water there, plus its a great time to do some fish spotting for next season
Then about a month before the season, i start getting my river gear out to check over the usually things, then its just a matter of planning what river to start the new season on
The first few weeks are not usually that productive with so many out fishing so i try to find some where thats not getting hammered

Canada is one of my favorite places in the world, what part are you visiting?
I've never seen any barbel on obvious spawning sites, what time of day is best for observing these river kings.
