Default Weighing scales
Looking round ebay at getting some good weighing scales as the ones Ive got now only cost a £5

I normaly weigh my fish in the korum landing net what I guestemate to be 1 lbs.

Just looking for good sturdy scales that will last, any pointers

Why not weigh the net? Or zero the scales to allow for a wet net. ;=)

I'll stay with my compact, lightweight and cheap digitals: they seem to agree well with the airport scales. I don't expect any national record fish, venue records are a newer concept that means nothing to me, and so the odd ounce or so of inaccuracy is unimportant when compared to portability.

When dealing with fish of say 15 pounds plus, the hand held method gets very difficult. Although there are other ways around it, if going for carp, cats or pike regularly, you may wish to consider a weighing tripod.

Do those of you who worry about scale accuracy all give yours a yearly
"sugarbag" test?

I'll second Korumkids recomendation for the Keenets Weighlite scales. Had a pair for nearly 10 years now and they are still going strong - and accurate too. I bought a second set a few years ago - being paranoid about accurate weights i like to check one set against the other - just to be sure! I had the older set checked by weights and measures after a PB last year and they were spot on! They even come with their own sling which is the perfect size for barbel, its a simple job to zero the wet sling before weighing the fish. Lets be honest - if you are going to take the time to weigh a fish you might aswell do it accurately! I'd stab a guess Glen that unless you use a particularly small korum net it weighs a fair bit more than 1lb when wet! Most barbel spoons i've used come in between 1lb 4oz and 1lb 12oz depending on frame size and mesh type.
