Nothing wrong with learning but not many posts on such stuff.
For newbies like me who've just found the site we see this:
Great Ouse = 5 posts
Wensum = 0 posts
Bristol Avon = 0 posts
Severn = 32 posts
Trent ( all 3 threads ) = 37 posts
Swale ( my favourite ) = 10 posts
GOYT= 388
TAME= 355
Guess stockport is the barbel capital of England - the more you invite in the worse it will get, so yes.
Its fooked.

There are other barbel sites that you can go to , but you will have to pay to get on them and they have a lot more people from around the uk , which is where most people on here came from.

looking at a few things on here the figures above don't take into account that there are 243 non posters out of 377 members who could contribute to there local rivers, that the majority of posters on here are around stockport and surrounding areas, the goyt and tame river reports for this season start from page 17 (goyt) and page 20 (tame) making the other pages irrelevent to the current season. Also looking at the goyt reports, every post in there is not exactly a river report but general talk about the river, so maybe a general river talk forum maybe needed to filter most of the posts into there to stop all this bickering

Barbel hunters is a relatively new online forum and like the others before it will take time to develop.
We do have a majority in the north west as this is were it was marketed first.
Our membership base grows everyday and at this rate we could have more members than the other large barbel forum within a year.
As for none posters just take a look at the site were you have to pay to join, at least a 3rd of there membership base are none posters and 70% of members have only made 1-10 posts
They are other forums about barbel fishing but if you would like to play apart in helping other people barbel hunting on the swale as they would help you your in the right place

Your hearing is somewhat selective. Being a moderator is a completely separate job, unrelated to the actual fishing. It does not have, as a job description, a condition that I be totally forthcoming about how and where I fish, what I catch. There are others who do not report. Maybe I have been one of the few bold enough to come right out and say so.
I believe I do contribute to the forum, although that is for others to judge. Only a day or so ago I wrote a long post suggesting that people give light tackle a go. Perhaps you missed it? Check through my other posts too, and only then form an opinion as to whether I make any useful contribution to the site. I think I do more than some who merely post their pictures.
I view the forum as helping people to understand how to think fish, not as a list of what fish lives in which swim, what its name is, what it weighed when last caught and what its favourite food is. You may not like the fact that I do not report my fish and where I caught them either in here, or elsewhere. I never have reported my fish, especially in my distant past. I don't want or need the glory and admiration. My choice, and I do it to protect both my fishing and that of others who might be fishing in the same areas. It would be most unfair of me, if my actions affected the fishing of others. If I report a fish and the next regular angler there has to wade through discarded line and litter as a consequence, then it is partially my fault.
It is one more reason I avoid the publicity. It is your choice as to how much information you give to others. I am entitled to think that maybe some give way too much for the good of the river and its anglers. You may not like it, but I, even as a moderator, am entitled to my opinions, as you are to yours.
Stekjz makes a good point about too much information going into the river reports, and that maybe a lot should go into more general barbel fishing.

Excellent. Well done. I am pleased for you. Throop is almost certainly very well bailiffed, properly looked after, combed and cosseted. The local rivers here are not in such a great position. If all your visiting anglers left as much mess at Throop as many do here you would have been far less pleased with them. Not fished Throop but I did fish the Hants Avon once or twice. It is a different world up here. Do your weirpools look like this?
