I've been experimenting with various knots over the last few seasons and have found the palomar knot to ultra reliable for swivels and hooks, it even out performs the knotless knot with flourocarbons at least.

I think that makes it a tucked 1/2 blood, which I trust a hell of a lot more. The simple 1/2 blood does seem to undo itself occasionally.

First used the Palomar knot over 40 years ago. Never knew what it was called until I saw it a couple of years ago in a magazine. I may have sort of invented it for myself, for I never remember seeing it in any pictures way back then. Dunno who actually invented it or claims credit..not me for sure. It is a good knot, but I can't help but have minor instinctive reservations about any knot which tightly bends the monofilament.

The fish n fool knot also looks fairly good in theory.

Just looked at fish n fool knot looks good for braid not so sure about mono or flouros. I'll take some line and few swivels to work where I have some super accurate scales and micrometers and do some tests. I'll let you know the results if interested.

Is that not a grinner knot ? cant see any differance , I use that knot a lot and is super but it dont work with the hi tech pole lines as it tends to kink them , dont know the names of half the knots I use and always getting my legs slapped of my mate whos a bit anal (carper) about his knots.
