Although it is indeed a major error on the EA's part, the AT isn't doing those of us who do respect the close season any favours by putting it on an open web site. It has the facility, but may be not the ability, to e-mail all members, surely that would have been far better. Might just as well put it on the National news 6pm news

John, the thing is this sort of thing should never have happened! So why not publicly name and shame the organisations for making those "very mistakes"? Just like they do with licence dodgers and poachers (whom) are publicly named and shamed on the EA website, when convicted!

However the clowns that made the mistakes should be seriously disapplined.

Anglers should be given a vote on whether or not we should keep the close season, not some ten bob bit clowns working within these organisations "dictating" what should or should'nt happen, for anglings future, mistakes or not.

Will.

Just thought it would have been better not to tell the whole angling world.
It took decades to get an enforceable close season up here (Northumbria) on the rivers, the slightest excuse, loophole or not, and we'll be back to the days of year round fishing. We also have game anglers who will take any opportunity to rid 'their rivers' of, as they call all coarse fish, vermin.

Thumbs up
That is sad news to hear, John, the trouble with most organisations in angling, coarse- game- sea, we are all in this to defend for us selves!

I thought the AT was designed to bring us all together as a "whole"? however it feels more like divide and conquor, this is all wrong.

Some of the angling clubs here in the East Midlands that i have been a member of, tend to work alongside each other & also with the EA when things like river bank improvements are required & also fish re-stocking is allocated, they "these angling clubs & the EA" share the costs, only because they get together, arrange meetings to debate what is required, with membership approvals.

It is a shame the rest of the country cannot follow suit & combine forces to further improve fisheries & angling for the future.

Will.
