politics in angling
I'm a bit confused and disillusioned by all the back biting and open slagging off on other barbel forums , the charity event , bob Roberts and barbel society. I am so glad this site is nothing like them, this site seems to be looked down on by other forums, because of the friendly and helpfull nature of the people on here , mostly from the NW and focused mostly on NW rivers, but the numbers are growing and growing and there in lies the problems, as the more popular it gets the more reasons they have to get out there soap boxes . I have made some good friends from this site and long may it continue and can't understand why fishermen in general can't seem to agree on anything , everybody has issues with everybody else carp, match men, specimen, fly fishermen etc etc. Biggest sport in Britain, smallest voice!!!!

Good shout Saint. If it wasn't for this forum I would never have met up with yourself and Kevin and got to fish rivers I've only ever dreamed of fishing. Unfortunately some people have ego's and opinions that I find bewildering. We all fish for one reason. We enjoy it.

I agree with both of you , and probably everyone one else on the forum.
the only problem with fishing, is that work gets in the way of it

I am chairman of my local angling club, and you would not believe the bitching, back biting and ludicrous accusations that get thrown about between members I dont understand why people just can't get on. we all have opinions, thats what makes us all different, we just need to respect each others and maybe agree to disagree.
I enjoy this forum as it seems very friendly, long may it continue!!

I,ll second that chaps, only just started using the site and found it very usefull. Im in a club, and their forum is not very helpfull at times, you can get an idea of how a river is fishing just by the honest and helpfull remarks on here, long may it continue.

well said saint i agee 100% and i'd say its having decent admin running the site also.
fishing is a hobby and not a boxing ring
which some forums think they are if it want for forums like this one the younger generation wouldn't bother with fishing. giving people tips and letting them know were to fish and how.
if we don't help were like the rest putting it politely (jerks) lol

I like this forum for the reasons that all you guys have said, its friendly and fun which is what fishing should be.
I will be up on some of the northern rivers next year if only for a weekend but i feel like, if i ask then someone will be about and hopefully point me to a fish or two, there is not a lot of that down here.
Keep it up lads lets bring the fun back and the agrro away.

I agree that the site is being run very and policed very well and is a credit to the owner, whilst I dont agree with everything ,( it would be very boring if I did) fishing is not the be all and end all and I go fishing to get away from all the ar**holes and arguments (usually about nothing) ,us normal blokes do need a voice though, to protect our fishing from other extremes.

I guess anglers are merely a reflection of society in general. Thankfully, the majority are modest, kind, helpful and ego-free. As thesaint999 says, this site's been largely free of spite and vitriol. Long may it continue!!
