Default Salt Levels
Anybody know what is classed as high salt levels for rivers.

I have a digital salt level meter from when I used to keep koi and .3 to .5 is good for the fish.

What units is your meter calibrated in? 0.3 what units?

% by weight? volume?
% of a saturated salt solution?

Not sure that it will matter. I think the rest of the gunge, tyre residue, oils etc will have a more negative effect than the pure saly would have.

When I studied oceanography, years ago, we used parts per thousand, and if I remember correctly that equated roughly, and more usefully to grams of salt per litre.

As a guide fresh water is less than about 0.5 on that scale.
Brackish less than about 30, and salt water usually greater than 30 but less that 50.
