Default river trent at smeatons
hi all,just booked a holiday to smeatons lakes in june,wots the barbel fishing like on the stretch of trent they have,if anyone has fished it?cheers

Short stretch only 7 pegs but usually fairly productive

I usually favoured peg 7 where you look downstream. You can fish 2 rods - one tight up to the bank in front of a willow and the other on the edge of the faster water. Peg 1 is a good alternative next to the bridge - deep water close in.
Not fished there for a couple of years now but have had fish to 12lb and 8/9 pounders fairly common

As usual with the Trent fishes best on a rising river with some colour
