I know water craft is important, but I still think my favorite conditions are bright sunshine, no wind, when you can simply see what your targeting in a shallow crystal clear river. I know it can make it really hard and you don't necessarily catch as much but I get a real buzz winkling a few fish out!!!

I agree 100%. Nothing beats actually watching the fish you are after. I'm always surprised by how happy barbel are to feed in bright sunshine in very shallow water......then at other times to be totally un interested.

Clear water is a great time to learn watercraft. Look where the fish are as they will very often be there in the same spots when visibility is not so good. Best time to learn a river by far.
