New season, new approach
Will anyone be changing/altering their approach to fishing for barbel this coming season? If so, how and why (unless you don't want to broadcast it )?
I'm going to start off using smaller weights and back-leading, where appropriate, and keeping the rod tip low.....generally pinning the line down.
I'll also be fishing mainly with a centrepin, unless I find out I'm totally cack-handed, and revert to the trusty bait runners

I'll be trying out some new particles as opposed to hemp, it seems to have more or less the same qualities and if it works, it'll be a damn site cheaper. At just over half the price it's pretty much a no brainer.
Unless I have to work nights again this year, there'll be more time to get out on the bank too.
I may even force myself into a detailed log, something that I've tried in the past but always seems to get forgotten about.

I'll be trying out glugs and flavor boosters to see if they improve my catch rate

A little bit of all the above. New bait and particles along with glugs. Also going to try using pva sticks with the hooklength strung through. I tried backleads a few seasons ago but found it created an extra potential snag. I've always kept the tip low unless on wide rivers were it is just no practical.

My new approach will be to go fishing more, I'm going to go a bit lighter, give hair rigs a miss and try more meat, corn and maggots on the feeder.
Good luck for the new season

I'm going to try different bait's also but I'll have the normal aswell hust in case. I probably think every season of travelling lighter so I'd better start losing some weight as I never manage to leave any gear at home lol

Im going for an all out attack carp style on the trent and see what happens, gonna try different methods and mix things up a bit instead of sitting behind rods, as I feel Im getting lazy, gonna really work harder this season, might only last a few hours but thats my idea lol
