can anyone recommend a set of sacales for a bloke on a budget? accuracy is important obviously. i have a set of digital scales but the display is "banjoed"

I used to have a set of Avon dial scales and i'm watching a few sets on ebay
just wondered if theres anything more modern or are the avons the best bet

Cheers

I have been using the eagle claw digital scales for a few years now, they are a superb bit of kit, seem very accurate and at around £30 they are a lot cheaper than the likes of fox etc.

Would recommend them to anyone

Uncannily, I've just been wondering about scales myself, I've never bothered carring them before. Is it the general concesus that digital are best? I suppose I'm a bit old school and still like the look of the "mechanical" ones. Any thoughts? Moff.

Default Digital might be best...
Digital might be best but not when the battery has gone flat.

Solar powered digital scales are available but as yet I've not seen them adapted for anglers on the bank, just for weighing humans in bathrooms.

The ones I use are very old, perhaps even antique midwifery scales from the days when babies were put into a net and hung onto a spring balance. They are still accurate today but restricted to 1/4 lb graduations and 16lb max.

I'm hoping that one day I'll get a specimen that exceeds this 16 lb limit.
If I do I'll celebrate and splash out on a new set.

Reuben heaton flyweight scales. About £20. Light and as good as any.

Not a budget version but I've got Fox digital scales picked up for about £70 which are brilliant except when the batteries are flat!
