Where to fish, Severn, Warks Avon or Trent
Hi All
Looking to go somewhere this coming weekend and was just wondering what are peoples thoughts on the above rivers.
I think my main aim now is to catch a double.
So areas I am looking at are R.Severn south of Brignorth, W.Avon between Stratford and Evesham or Trent near Long Eaton (if I can get onto the Long Eaton website).
Which river would I be more likely to catch a double, do not want to know specific areas, just peoples opinions on the best river.
Cheers
Dave

That Long Eaton Victoria site has been down for ages. I'll PM you an area on the Trent but are you prepared to come to Nottingham?

Thanks Ricky, Nottingham is probably similar distance to me as the R.Severn, so yes would drive there.
Is it just the site for long eaton that's down or do you know if the club has gone?
Cheers

Good question. The site has been down for ages, I have tried to find out ringing the number etc but they're either not there or the phone simply doesn't work. So I can't tell you, I have a feeling it's folded but I don't know this. On the off chance I would get a bailiff come round I'll ask and I will just pay for a DT although they had some good water on the Trent and would be interested joining.
Will send you a PM in a bit mate, should do well there as I always do.
Regards,
Richard

You could try the middle reaches of the Severn. Apparently a 14lber came out of the Barbel Alley stretch last week, just upstream from the Unicorn pub.
There is also Eardington where you are sure of some action, and a chance of a possible double. Or you might want to try the Avon at Salford Prior. I have had a hot tip that there are some big fish showing there. Wherever you decide to go, I wish you tight lines.

I was looking to join also, cannot be that long the site has been down, as I had a choice between this club or baa after the season had started. In the end baa won as they have a small stretch of the R.Anker which is close to where I work, so I can pop along for couple of hours. As well as having the Severn and Avon.
Still would like to join though as Soar is quite close and then there is the Trent. So if you do find out any further info, please let me know. I do remember that you could get a membership from one of the Angling shops in Long Eaton.
Cheers
Dave

Dave, you can buy the Long Eaton Victoria books from Bridge Tackle £24.00, also fished the BAA stretch of the Anker 5 times the other season without so much as a sniff from a little chub nevermind a barbel, a very difficult place to catch one from, barbel very few and far between! Good luck let us know if you catch one!
