Default Where to fish in Shropshire
In September, I am going to Newport in Shropshire for my 2 week stay at Combat Stress, so I thought I might get some Barbel fishing in.

So does anyone know of a good place to fish around that area, I was thinking The Seven at Ironbridge. Anyone got some good info on where to fish in the area. Don't want to travel to far away from Newport.

Thanx Dave

Shrewsbury is only about 5 miles furthur from Newport than Ironbridge and has a number of waters available on a Shropshire Anglers Federation (SAF) day (or season) ticket. Tickets are £5 in advance from Total Angling in Shrewsbury or £6 on the bank. A full list of fisheries can be found on their website ...

shropshireanglersfederation.in

If you want to fish in the Gorge, Telford Anglers Association (TAA) have some nice water around Buildwas. Rod and Gun in Dawley will sell you a ticket and give advice.

Hope that helps

Default Shropshire Fishing
Hi,

Can recommend the fishing at Atcham.
You can get a ticket at the Attingham Estate, National Trust.
The estate is just past Atcham bridge.
Open from 9.00am, just pop into main entrance and go into office to get ticket. Cost is £5.00 two rods and you are given a code for the lock to the secure car park right by the river.
The fishing is right near the estate office, and the fishing is very good.

Hope that helps,

Tight Lines.

I can recommend the SAF waters around shrewsbury. Had some nice fish out of the Sydney ave stretch, however it can get a bit busy and lots of people around. If you perfer a little peace try the Emstrey stretch, had some lovely fish out of there at the weekend.

This is some really useful info, didn't know you could get day tickets for this section. How long is the National Trust section of the river? Do you buy the tickets from the estate office, not the main shop on the estate? Can't wait to try this section out, really nice looking stretch of river.
