Thanks for all the help. That link was good and answered a fair few of my questions.

Anyway, I've decided to leave the weirpools until a bit later in the season as I've started to find a few fish elsewhere!

hi totty,although not from your part of the country i have found when the summer conditions start to deteriate ,lower temps,less natural food & stronger water flows fish tend to desert the weirs for their winter quarters imo on the rivers i fish .not saying everywheres the same but might be something to bear in mind if your thinking of weir fishing in later months of the year.
