Default Two Rods or One?
I'll be joining Prince Albert Angling Soc for next year and wonder if I should be gearing up for a two or one rod setup?

I have to admit I am not sure if Albert allow two barbel rod fishing but thought I'd ask on our forum. BTW I have looked on the PAAS website but can't see anything about one rod or two. What do Ribble people fish on here? one or two?

Plus, are the PAAS Ribble sections pretty good for our favourite fish?

Cheers guys

hi red,the paas are very secret squirrel, they operate a strict no publicity rule so you'll find it difficult to glean any info unless someone can pm you.
cheers

Hi Kev, thanks for the advice. The last thing I want to do is mess my membership offer up, so I'm grateful to you.

I used to nearly always use 2 rods, unless river conditions dictated otherwise. This season, I fished 1 instead of 2. I catch no more fish using 2 than I do with 1, in fact I'd stick my neck out and say I catch more fish using the 1 rod 1 rod. Compared to pals fishing the same stretch at the same time using 2. I'm convinced that if you feed the swim correctly, you are fishing for the same fish but in fact have more chance of alerting the fish due to double the amount of lines in the swim. Some anglers fish 1 up and 1 down stream, but again with correct baiting I'm convinced these fish could be drawn up to your hookbait. Just my opinion.

Spot on! Although I like to use 2 rods, you've got a very valid point.

although not a ribble fisher have to agree with you jonny,2nd rod is sometimes a hinderance, big river 2 rods ,small river 1 rod is the way i go ,thats what im comfortable with on the rivers i fish.

I got on the waiting list about three years ago Cardinal. I think I got embroiled in a mass of new applications due to Stoke on Trent AS losing Capesthorne and Redesmere to PAAS. So I'm guessing if you applied now it may take a couple of years and be a bit quicker than I found.

jonny-rotton, I think you make an excellent point there. Watercraft surely does surpass numbers of lines in the water! I'd not really thought of it like that until I read your post but you're spot on.

Just been for a recky at a couple of the day ticket bits on the Ribble and I wanted to get fishing there and then! BTW I didn't think much to the Ribchester stretch - looked a bit busy tbh what with dog walkers and day trippers. Still, I hope I'll be able to find a quiet stretch in the future.

Cheers for all your input guys
