Barbel rods?
Anybody got any recommendations on which barbel rod are rated between 50 and 130£? Most of my fishing will be done on the Severn. Also the teme and Avon! Tackle shops swaying me towards greys vx prodigy, but shimano purist power barbel catching my eye! I'm only just returning after long time away from rivers, currently using a John Wilson barbel quiver11-13 rod to try

This is a great question for me too I don't want to hijack the thread but if I can put forward two I'm torn between that would be great.
To add a couple more choices - I was highly recommended the Korum Neoteric Twin Tip (£99) which I like the look of quite a bit, and also the Fox FX Duo Lite Twin Tip (£119.95). Any advice most welcome.

Yes, keV,seen bloke using one Saturday, looks a nice rod! How is it handling barbel! Got my rod off eBay for £34! Not a bad rod to get me going! And red panda the fox duo is another one I've cast my eye over! I've always been a big shimano rod user though

Make sure you have a waggle of the Shimano Purist before you take the plunge. I'm a Shimano fan too but my very limited experience of the Purist range isn't particularly favourable. I'd investigate the other Shimano barbel rods (Beastmaster, Catana and Vengeance) first.
I can recommend the Korum Twin Tip if, like many, you can live without quivertips. The 1.75 is fine in many situations but the 2.2lb top gives you the flexibility to fish bigger rivers or floods.

hi can also recommend the korum twin tip plus the prodigy twin tip, lovely action rods that can punch a bit off weight out if required with the heavier tips, its good to have the flexability when needed from jus 2 rods imo

Hiya guys does anyone have or remember a rod built by derby angling center called the Derbyshire tench/barbel from the mid ninetys. I bought one for the start of my barbel career on the Dane where one rod was the rule oh how I wished I'd bought two cause it's a fantastic rod. I've tried looking on eBay and even googled it but with no joy I feel like J R Hartley maybe one of you guys might have one you don't want anymore and want to donate it to me???? Lol no harm in asking.

Crikey, that sounds a rare rod indeed! How about searching on ebay but put a 'saved search' on it. Then if one comes up on ebay they'll email you automatically. It must have been some rod! I hope you have some luck fella.

If you can afford a little bit more, the Daiwa Infinity Advanced Barbel is a superb rod, you wont find a better set of eyes on any other rod. The balnk is superb too.
