Default Torchlight and Barbel???
Went for an eve trip last night, settled in swim and watched the sun set and turn in to dark. I sat there in pitch black not wanting to shine any light on the water, trees or surrounding area, because I am after my first Barbel didnt make a sound in fear of spooking them.
I glanced a 100 yards up the river to see tourches flashing all over for a contiunual hour before I got the hump and packed up
When fishing for carp previously i would never shine a light on the water, maybe I am just paranoid?
Is it the done thing for Barbel??? I know my answer....NO, but just interested to hear others views and would they shy away?
Adrian

i would say shining light on the water is a no no, if I have to use a light then I turn my back to the water and use the red light thats on my head lamp

I though like that for years until I went to my fish pond one night with a torch and found that the carp in the pond didn't mind the light at all in fact they came towards it looking for food it was the first time that those fish every saw a light in there life and they were about 7yrs old then so I don't know what to say or think about the subject but I would be interested in the result if someone did a test or if someone knows different.

Jim.
