Default Barbel Spooking on Flurocarbon Hooklinks
Hi I have just watched a clip of a youtube Barbel - Spooking on Flurocarbon Hooklinks. I actually use floracarbon on all my hook lengths but after watching this it does make me think of changing. I’m thinking of going down the braided hook links as it's not as stiff as floracardon, which spooks the barbel in the vid clip. What do you guys use, Braid, leadcore, just normal line?

Cheers

hi r3cc3y. i use braid for hooklenthes, as its soft and tends to take the shape of the river bed, so your hookbait looks more natural. billy.

definately braid, my particular favourite is fox reflex in 12lb BS. Its very supple, has outstanding knot strength and the colouring makes it blend perfectly with the riverbed.

Would love to see the comparison with braid in the swim. Only if they happily touch braid without spooking does it mean much at all.

I have used a fluoro rig for the past 3 years on the Trent, over ten times I have caught 30 plus barbel on a session, god knows how many I would have caught if I had used a braided hook length.

At least three times as many but you'd have died of exposure after collapsing through exhaustion as you packed up!
