Default Tiger nuts for barbel??
Being new to barbel fishing and from a carpy back ground, tiger nuts have always been an awsome bait for me. Know most barbel baits are more savoury rather than sweet.. but has anyone given them a try as they are very angler friendly for a hair rig as have hard nature and never nibbled or warn away by small shoal fish.
Any thought chaps?

I have used a few times and have never had anything on them, although caught a lovely Crucian Carp on the trent on one. My opinion? Not good for Barbel, one bait in fact I don't think they hardly ever eat. You can try though and post your results mate. I just don't think they work for them. Nowt taken away for Carp though, they're fantastic, in fact one of the best baits for Carp.

In the early 90's I took a carp angler pal of mine on the Ribble. He landed a 9lb 2oz fish, which was huge for back then. On a tigernut. I didn't even know what they were.

Have recently been given a bag of hemp and tiger nut, was going to give one a try on the hook. Will do so now with far more confidence.
