Default Rubby Dubby!!
I have been testing rubby dubby for Barbel over the last couple of months. Just thought I'd let you know that it's unbelievable for Barbel and of course predators. I have avoided putting it on my blog and the "Barbel baits" section due to not testing it thoroughly and people thinking I'm mad. So it's just a heads up that I will be testing more when back in Notts and will share my results. If it works like I think it will carry on doing I will put it in my baits section. You think I'm mad don't you? For anyone who is not familar with it, it's a mix that's placed in a net type mesh and placed in the water for sharks, lol. And No I'm not joking either, it works for Barbel, the oil coming from it is immense. Try it and let me know what you think.

I made it myself out of an old keepnet mesh and chucked a load of mackeral guts inside, then I attached a rope and I lobbed it into the river where I was fishing. It must be close in though as it's too heavy to chuck too far and then I placed the rope along the bank and tie to a tree. I make a size just under the size of a football and the oil seeps out for hours. I don't think you'd need a feeder with this, I just used a normal running lead system and no freebies. Barbel were just drawn to it, I hate to think how many Barbel you'd catch with this idea/method when used properly, I had around ten on it so far but been watching most of the time. I am going to test it more when I get back.

Cheers

Ricky

Definitely mate, anything oily and smelly can be put in the bag. It definitely works I have seen them inspecting and going mad round the bag. Not surprised you had a good day using what you described.

Cheers

this is definately something i never heard of before, but as cheef stated, barbel do have preditory instincts, (meat + fishmeal based baits spring to mind), i think this is something i will have to try out.

thanks ricky

I watched a video of someone using mincemeat in the swimfeeder and a small piece of steak on the hook! I think it might have been on the Trent but I can't find it at the moment.

Apparently, at one time this was de rigueur in not only matches but also specimen circles in the past.

Yes mate, used mincemeat and stewing steak before and whilst it's good for Barbel I got far too many Chub on it for my liking.

I put a decent size flat brick/stone at the bottom of the mesh so it doesn't roll all over the place. It definitely works and what will cost you £10 to £15 on groundbait can go on mackeral. You must mash them up and all you have to do is chuck the mesh holding all the guts etc into the river with some rope attached and then tie rope to a tree or something and fish just to the right of it with a ledger rig, on a fishy type bait like pellet or a fishmeal boilie.

The oil leaks for ages, no need for any freebies, I have literally seen the slick on top of the river for hours and the Barbel circling it like.....sharks, lol.

Will be testing it further and reporting results back on my blog and on here in time once I can say with a 90% degree of confidence this is revolutionary like I think it could be. Thanks for the reply mate.
