hi all,just wondered if there are any reported or known barbel in the river weaver round middlewhich ?

hi kev

warrington aa have a stretch of the weaver near northwich, I've not got round to fishing it myself yet but nothing in the book about barbel being present in the river.

hi paul,cheers for the reply, i have access to a private stretch i know there a bloody big carp in there though a mid 20 came out a couple of weeks ago,

Hi Kev Its the Dane at middlewhich and the Weaver at northwich mate Not done much on the weaver for years but did have 3 seasons on the Davenham card on the Dane above where the Dane runs into the Weaver Harder going than the Goyt or the Tame for me but do know of some barbs being caught What area have you access to Kev

hi barrie, cheers for that, well its the weaver not the dane then the stretch where vale royal caravan park is,its just upstream from the flash i think mate.not heard of any barbel coming out of there but then again dont know if anyone fishes for em,a huge carp came out a few weeks ago though tipped the scales at 26lb 6oz.

Fished that lenth a few times Kev (theres also a lake there as well, i think its warrintons water) the up stream lenth from the bridge used to be a day ticket had some good days on the slider and pole but never heared of and barbel

yeah mate there used to be 3 ponds on the site but he made the 2 small ones into 1 pond its rammed with tench, this length is private now the caravan site has it only 12 pegs but it looks mint,pretty wide too,the site runs matches 1 week river next week 1 of the ponds,i'll have to ask a few of the match boys if any barbel have been caught or spotted. cheers for the heads up barrie. see you saturday if your on the fish-in mate.

Theres also some very good cycle paths along the weaver for your grandkids Kev

I am in Northwich anglers and they have the rights to fish the Weaver from Vale Royal Locks downstream to Northwich. Very occasionally (one or two year max) a barb is caught downstrean in the town, near the confluence with the Dane but I've not heard of any coming out at the Vale Royal Locks end. I think they are a bit like rocking horse sh1t upstream. I'd stick to the carp, bream & pike, plenty of those to go after
