I once hooked a water skier on one of the broadland rivers. I couldnt turn or stop him before he spooled me. I too used to fire bait into the boats that came too close, the trick is to do it without being spotted and is almost a sport in its own right.

All a bit Ying and Yang this one, I'm sure there's post in canoeists forums, windsurfers forum, motorboat forums about winding anglers up.

The waterways are there for everybody to use not just us (although admittedly we probably pay a higher fee in total).

Being civil is the approach I prefer to use, being aggressive just makes everyone else the same.

It's a bit like anglers bemoaning boat traffic on the local cut...

Anglers probably are selfish in terms of wanting as much undisturbed water to go at as possible. I'm sure we're as guilty as everyone else in that respect.

Bankside etiquette however is a totally different issue. Common sense doesn't always prevail, but a quiet word often does.

I know this thread's about Selfish Angers, but how about Narky Bailiffs who suffer from 'little hitler' syndrome. I have to admit it really gets me when they talk down to me in a rude manner demanding to see my ticket/rigs/EA licence etc.

One once barked at me "I'll have yer membership book lad!" with no Hello or anything ("Lad" was funny to me as I was about 35 yrs old at the time ) I politely asked him who he was as I didn't recognise his face. To his consternation I then very politely asked him for his ID. After that he was proper put out not least when I was squeaky clean with everything in order.

I'm a polite guy who has no problem with my paperwork and rigs being checked, so why do some bailiffs take that rude condescending tone? I don't honestly know TBH. One thing's for sure, I know I'm not the only one who has had bailiff interactions like that eh?
