Default Selfish Anglers
Why is it that some anglers think they own the river when you turn up to fish ?

Are some anglers selfish when it comes to Barbel ?

This thread reminds me why I'm getting into river fishing from carping...

Some of the numpties in carp fishing? well I could write a book.

Overcrowded and overly expensive venues with carpers (sadly mostly young ones) showing no respect for the venue or their fellow anglers...hyper bright head torches, music, alcohol, spodding in six tonnes of party mix, £500 big pit reels on£300 3.75lb rods casting all over the place, shouting to their mate at the other end of the lake, their mates visiting in the middle of the night and stomping past yer bivvy at 3am etc etc etc I guarantee others on here know what I'm on about with carpers.

I was looking for some peace and quiet with barbel fishing am I deluded?

Hey red tell it how it is bro where you targeting? Because the stretch I'm on I've only seen two guys in over two months and both were fluff chuckers, one of which was an A-Hole who waded into the river 20yards up stream of me I gave him the look of death but too no avail. On thee other hand the other guy I saw was really nice and I had a good chat with him about chub holding areas and the deeper holes on the stretch he told me his friend had a 9lb bream near bredbury hall what a fish. Fishing is the same across the board there's good blokes and A-holes the latter are probably the same in there every day life. SAAAADDD!

I know where your coming from tinsoldier

My problems are anglers feeding so many swims up in advance with all types of bait and quantity which they hope to fish sometime during they time on the banks, which inturns gives you very little chance of finding a swim they haven't fed up along the section of river to fish

Gets me very angry when i find out that i have sat in a swim and suddenly hear that the swim has been fed before hand

TBH I'm speaking generally about a minority of carp anglers who can really spoil it for decent people out there. You sound like you've got a place of peace and tranquillity to fish fella, a rare and treasured thing in our overcrowded country for sure!

As people say on here, the twonks are probably the type of people who whether it's fishing or anything else, they would mess it up for others with zero consideration for them. I'm not saying I want to be a recluse in my angling but goodness me, some people are so inconsiderate it's unbelievable that they go through life like that.

I'm looking forwards to my joining one of the biggest angling societies in Europe(you know who) next month and I'll be picking out of the way venues to fish early by next year "We need rules to be free!"

i agree, the A-holes on the bank WILL be A-holes in everyday life, sadly thats the way it is, panda i know where you`re coming from with regards to some carpers, ive witnessed the loud yobbish ways of some people treating an overnighter as a social p**s up without any regard to fellow anglers, i use the fellow anglers term very loosely as those sort of people, in my mind are not anglers, they have no understanding of the art of fishing, they just grab a bivvy , grab a rod , spod out 6 tonne of bait, then dive straight into the 24 pack of super strength then make as much noise as possible before passing out waiting for the bite alarm to sound

i`ll get off my soap box now
